Shaping the future of impact: Our founder joins King’s College London as Expert in Residence for Impact
As someone who had a less than impressive start in academic life, through decades of working in business - some may call it the University of Life - I’ve learnt so much about business strategy, financial ethics and decision making. I am happy to share that this learning has led me to have been appointed Impact Expert in Residence at King’s College London’s Entrepreneurship Institute.
This role presents me with an exciting opportunity to support the next generation of entrepreneurs in embedding purpose, social value, and long-term impact into their business strategies from the very start.

With over 30 years of experience in finance and sustainability, I have worked closely with businesses of all sizes to help them navigate the evolving landscape of responsible growth. My passion lies in equipping finance and business leaders with the tools to anticipate future challenges, build resilient businesses, and create value beyond financial returns.
The Entrepreneurship Institute at King’s College London is renowned for its commitment to fostering innovative, purpose-driven businesses. It has recently been ranked among Europe's leading start-up hubs, recognising its incredible impact in scaling ventures and supporting founders.
As Julie Devonshire OBE, Director of the Entrepreneurship Institute, states:
"To be amongst the top 20 start-up hubs in the UK is a testament to the team’s hard work and dedication over the years to ensure we’re scaling ventures, supporting founders and supercharging their networks. It feels extra special to receive this recognition as we celebrate 10 years of the Entrepreneurship Institute this year."
As Impact Expert in Residence, I look forward to mentoring and collaborating with ambitious entrepreneurs eager to integrate sustainability and social impact into their ventures. From aligning with global sustainability frameworks to measuring and communicating impact effectively, my role will focus on ensuring these businesses are built for both profit and purpose.
Key areas I will be covering include:
- How to design a business with purpose embedded from the start.
- Managing the realities of sustainability and impact once you start trading.
- Defining your non-negotiables and ensuring they guide your business decisions.
- The conflict between money and purpose, particularly for female founders
- What governance models your should consider
- Training our decision-making to think more long-term and collectively rather than being driven by short-term gains.
I am excited to contribute to this vibrant community and help shape the mindset of future business leaders who recognise that true success is not just about the bottom line. If you’re part of the King’s entrepreneurial ecosystem or interested in learning more about this initiative, I’d love to connect!
